Boyd Coddington the legend has been one of the most sought after custom car builders in the world. Boyd was born August 28, 1944 in Rupert, Idaho, needless to say he loved cars from the beginning. Boyd was a machinist by trade but his heart was all about the Hot Rods. He moved to California in 1968 and worked at Disneyland at night while mastering his craft during the daytime working on cars. Nine years later Boyd Coddington opened his own shop in 1977 in Cypress California called Hot Rods by Boyd.
Boyd Coddington became a household name when the reality show American Hot Rod TV aired from 2004-2008 on the the Discovery channel. This gave hot rod fans an insight as to the pressures of a Boyd build, America enjoyed five seasons of American Hot Rod TV. As of 2012 the show has been re-syndicated on the Velocity channel giving the world an opportunity to take another sneak peek into the Coddington Legacy.
Boyd left behind three sons and his wife Jo Coddington.Boyd Coddington died on February 27, 2008, he passed from complications that were brought on from a recent surgery along with liver and kidney issues. He is buried at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Whittier, California
